DEPARTMENT: Administration
POSITION SUMMARY: The Administration Department at San Antonio Regional Hospital is looking for students enrolled in a health-related Master’s or Bachelor’s degree to join our team as Healthcare Administration Intern. This internship provides students a unique opportunity to interface and contribute to the development and implementation of San Antonio Regional Hospital’s administrative initiatives. Interns can expect to participate in a range of duties, including but not limited to research, program implementation and evaluation, health informatics, data and collection. The Healthcare Administration Intern will be required to perform administrative duties as needed. These duties offer students practical experience and broad exposure to San Antonio Regional Hospital’s organizational structure and services. Project assignments may vary based on each applicant. The Healthcare Administration Intern represents San Antonio Regional Hospital both in and out of the hospital and must be confident in their ability to understand, communicate, and adequately disseminate health information to various populations. This non-clinical position does not involve direct or hands-on patient care. This is an in-person internship.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Master’s or Bachelor’s students pursuing a degree in Public Health, Healthcare Management, Healthcare Administration, Leadership, Social Sciences, or other related fields. Students from other related fields with an interest in non-clinical healthcare are encouraged to apply.
Requirements: Must be enrolled in a practicum/field experience course at a university. Attendance at the internship is required for at least one semester.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficiency in the following applications and platforms including but not limited to
- Must be proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft word.
- Have flexibility to shift from one project/program to another.
- Leadership skills and effective communication skills on projects to explain data collection instructions and statistics to other team members or stakeholders.
- Ability to work individually or collaboratively with a group.
License/Certifications: Valid Driver’s License or ID

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Job functions will vary based on assignment. The Healthcare Administration Intern can expect to perform duties related to:
- Assist with data collection, review and analysis.
- Use data-gathering methods to help track patient’s health outcomes for evaluation of organizational performance and quality of care.
- Assess the Functional and Global Health status of patients who have undergone Total Hip or Total Knee Replacement Surgery.
- Collection of Pre-Operative and Post- Operative patient surveys for 3-Month, 12-Months after patients discharge date.
- Trend and analyze the functional and global health improvement from the Pre- and Post-Op survey data.
- Data collection, review analysis, and conduct calls for CMS Medicare 12-Month surveys.
- Perform administrative duties as required by assignments undertaken.
- Attend internal and external meetings as requested.
- Special research and analytical assignments as assigned.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Models the hospitals internal and external service standards of listen, be nice, be helpful, and show regard.
- Performs other duties that are consistent with meeting departmental and organizational goals and objectives.
INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW
- Time Commitment: 6 months, minimum 6-10 hours/week [Within business hours]
- Internship Duration: May 2025 – August 2025
- Onsite Requirements: Interns are required to be present at assigned project sites for the duration of the internship. This is an in-person internship.
