About the Project
You will be working on an award-contending feature documentary about a cultural, creative, and entrepreneurial legacy that shaped Black hair history and global style. Our mission is to qualify for the 99th Academy Awards through a strategic 15-month campaign combining Oscar-qualifying festival wins and a 7-day theatrical run in Los Angeles, culminating in a high-impact FYC push to Academy voters.
Role Overview
We are seeking driven, detail-oriented interns to join our Oscar campaign team. Interns will gain hands-on experience in film publicity, awards marketing, festival strategy, and event coordination while working closely with our producers and publicists.
You’ll be part of a fast-moving, high-profile campaign that will include press outreach, screenings, festival submissions, voter engagement, and industry networking.
Key Responsibilities
Festival Strategy & Submissions
- Research and track Academy-qualifying festivals (2025–2026)
- Manage submission deadlines, requirements, and deliverables
- Maintain a festival calendar and coordinate submission materials (screeners, synopses, press kits)
Theatrical Run Planning
- Assist in booking and scheduling the 7-day Oscar-qualifying theatrical run in Los Angeles
- Help coordinate Opening Night event, Q&As, and guild/voter screenings
- Support advertising logistics (print, digital, and social ads)
FYC Campaign Execution
- Assist with press list building and media outreach (trades, cultural outlets, podcasts)
- Coordinate mailing of screeners to Academy members, guilds, and industry influencers
- Support social media content creation for the FYC campaign
- Track press mentions, reviews, and industry buzz
Event Support
- Staff in-person and virtual screenings, panels, and receptions
- Coordinate guest lists, RSVPs, and follow-up communications
- Support photographer/videographer logistics
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Comfortable with Google Workspace, Canva, and basic social media scheduling tools
- Interest in film, publicity, and awards season strategy
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Bonus: Experience with FilmFreeway, MailerLite, Kit.com or Adobe Creative Suite

Compensation
- This is an unpaid internship for academic credit or professional experience.
- Stipends for travel and event-related expenses will be provided.
